UCSF Faculty and Students Work at Oakland SBHCs

UCSF Nursing Professor Karen Duderstadt chats with students at James Madison Middle School

Thanks to a grant from Atlantic Philanthropies, the faculty and students from UC San Francisco are working in health centers and classrooms at five Oakland middle schools. A major part of the Oakland-UCSF partnership is to increase the sustainability of the new health centers at the middle schools in Oakland. Over the three-year grant period, UCSF nursing and dental school faculty and students will also work to enhance and expand the services offered at these centers by increasing dental screenings, health education, and helping the centers develop ways to increase their capacities.
