Dairy Council of California, has a number of free nutrition education booklets available through its website. For nearly a century, Dairy Council of California has served as the dairy industry’s contribution to community health, providing nutrition education resources to help improve eating habits. These materials are based on 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and consistent with USDA’s MyPlate. The resources promote nutrient-rich foods from all five food groups as primary dietary choices and stress the importance of physical activity in achieving optimal health. Materials target parents of young and school-aged children; pregnant women; adolescents and adults. The programs are self-instructional, available in English and Spanish, and free of charge in California. Titles include: Making Meals Matter for Your Young Child, Making Meals Matter for Your School-Age Child, Pregnancy- A Special Time for Nutrition, Activity & Eating – Small Steps to a Healthier You, and Calcium Connection- Healthy Bodies One Generation to Another.
