Success Across the State
The California School Health Center’s 2011 roadshow made its last stop in Fresno, concluding three successful regional conferences that reached hundreds of school health center staff members, health care providers and advocates of healthy students.

Participants’ reviews of the one-day conferences in Fresno, Oakland and Los Angeles included:

“Knowledgeable CSHC staff and attendees; was here to promote LEA PMAA funding streams but learned more than I thought!”

“The networking, communicating personal/local issues was golden.”

“Great energy amongst participants! Loved the teen presentation!!”

Each conference featured a plenary presentation by a local youth leadership team. The youth spoke of their efforts to educate students at school and in the community about making healthy living choice, including taking full advantage of the school-based health center. Read more.

Welcome New Members
Our 2010/11 membership year is well underway. Thank you to all our current members who have renewed or joined already. If you have not yet done so, we encourage you to join. Donations of any amount are welcome, but those at the membership level and above, entitle you to a variety of member benefits. With your help, we will continue to make school health centers an integral part of the health care and educational systems.

Take CSHC membership to the next level by becoming one of our corporate partners. Partners receive year-around exposure to our stakeholders through Enews and our website. Corporate partnership levels range from $2,500 to $10,000. Our Corporate Partner web page features partner logos, links to websites and short messages from partners to our stakeholders. Thanks to CompuMed for helping us launch this exciting program.

Partnerships provide opportunities for organizations to reach our 1,500+ member network of school health services stakeholders. CSHC’s partnership year runs concurrently with our membership year from September 1st to August 31st.

Corporate Partnership Opportunities
We are pleased to announce the debut of our new Corporate Partnership Program and to welcome our inaugural partner, CompuMed.   Partnerships offer organizations and companies highly visible, year-long recognition through our website, ENews, membership listings and other CSHC materials.

CompuMed first supported CSHC as a bronze level sponsor at our 2010 regional conferences.  CompuMed has a special program offering EKG equipment to SBHCs and realized that our conference participants were the perfect audience for their message.   CompuMed saw our Corporate Partnership Program as an opportunity to continue the dialogue with our stakeholders and were thrilled to have another avenue to support the school health center movement.  The CSHC partnership has also provided CompuMed with a way to showcase their community support on their website and in corporate communications.

Corporate partnership levels range from $2,500 to $10,000 and offer a variety of benefits depending on the level selected.  Our Corporate Partner web page  feature partner logos, links to websites and short messages from partners to our stakeholders.   This is a great opportunity for partners to provide information to SBHCs about special offers or services.  Partners will also have the opportunity to include a promotional message in one of our bi-monthly Enewsletters (distribution 1,200+).  Our partnership year runs concurrently with our membership year from September 1st to August 31st.

New Formal Alliance with NASBHC
CSHC is pleased to announce that it is now an official “state affiliate” of the National Assembly on School Based Health Care. We are one of 16 state organizations to have become an official affiliate since the program was launched in the fall of 2009. It is our hope that this more formal alliance with NASBHC will build a stronger and more effective network of national, state, and local partners working to achieve our shared vision that all children are healthy and achieving to their fullest potential.

CSHC’s New Y2Y Program Reaches Out to SBHC Youth Leadership
As part of CSHC’s efforts to highlight the inspiring youth engagement work happening at school health centers, we have launched the Youth to Youth (Y2Y) Network. The Y2Y Network connects young school health center advocates and gives them the opportunity to share their achievements, best practices, and advocacy efforts with their peers. A select group of school health center youth leadership teams have been selected as Y2Y Affiliates. These include: John Marshall High School Health Center Student Advisory Board (Los Angeles), Sequoia Teen Wellness Center Youth Advisory Board (Redwood City), Alameda Family Health Services Youth Advocating and Educating for Health (Alameda), and Balboa Teen Health Center Youth Advisory Board (San Francisco). These programs will be mentored by a CSHC Youth Board member and will share their accomplishments with other Y2Y members. Be sure to catch the Y2Y Affiliates at a 2011 CSHC regional conference plenary near you!
