Oral Health
     
California Mobile Dental Provider Guidelines
A group of oral health and education professionals across the state has developed an information kit to assist schools and school districts that are approached by mobile or portable dental providers. The information kit includes a one-page overview of issues to consider, a more detailed set of guidelines, and a sample memorandum of understanding. This information kit is not intended to lead schools/districts to a particular decision; rather, it is intended to give decision-makers some tools and ideas to help make the best choice for a particular situation.
 
Maternal & Child Health: Children's Dental Health Resources

The new edition of the Oral Health and Children and Adolescents knowledge path is an electronic guide to recent, high-quality resources and information tools. Produced by the MCH Library in collaboration with the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center (OHRC), the knowledge path includes information on (and links to) Web sites and electronic publications; journal articles; books, reports; databases; and discussion groups and electronic newsletters.

 
The Oral Health Resource Bulletin, Volume IX
This resource is intended for use by health professionals, program administrators, and policymakers working to improve the oral health of infants, children, adolescents, and their families. New volumes of the Oral Health Resource Bulletin are published by periodically.
     
  Oral Health Study Module for Health and Early Childhood Professionals  
 

Open Wide: Oral Health Training for Health Professionals is a series of four self-contained online modules designed to help health and early childhood professionals working in community settings promote oral health. Topics include tooth decay, risk factors for tooth decay, and prevention of tooth decay; oral health risk assessment and oral health screening; and anticipatory guidance for parents. Each module includes an overview, learning objectives, key points, a self-assessment quiz, online resources, and an evaluation form. The modules were prepared by the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center and the Center for the Advancement of Distance Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

 
     
  Clinical Guideline on Fluoride Therapy  
  The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry provides fluoride guidelines to help practitioners and parents/caregivers make decisions concerning appropriate use of fluoride as part of the comprehensive oral health care for infants, children, adolescents, and persons with special health care needs.
 
     
  Knowledge Path: Oral Health and Pregnant Women, Infants, Children and Adolescents  
  This knowledge path about oral health and pregnant women, infants, children and adolescents has been compiled by the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center (OHRC) and the Maternal and Child Health Library at Georgetown University. This selection provides resources on specific aspects of oral health, including: child care and Head Start (HS); dental sealants; early childhood caries (ECC); fluoride varnish; K-12 education; pregnancy; and school-based care. A separate section lists oral health resources for consumers. This knowledge path is aimed at health professionals, program administrators, educators, policymakers, and consumers, and it will be updated annually.
 
     
 

Bright Futures Toolbox

 
  Bright Futures is a national disease prevention and health promotion initiative funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. This toolbox highlights materials that advance the Bright Futures philosophy of promoting and improving the oral health of infants, children and adolescents. These materials can be used to: find oral health information for health professionals, human services providers and families; identify services needed to improve oral health; learn how to develop and implement oral health programs; and find information about training professionals, providers and students.
 
     
  Dental Health Foundation Program: WIC Early Intervention  
  The overall purpose of the WIC Early Intervention Dental Project is to increase the number of at-risk one year olds who receive preventive dental services, access early dental care and have a relationship with an identified dental provider by developing and implementing systems that will enable WIC to serve as the entry point for dental care for these children.
 
     
 

Health Professional's Guide to Pediatric Oral Health Management

 
  This guide to pediatric oral health assists health professionals in performing oral screening to identify infants and children at increased risk for oral health problems, offering referrals to oral health professionals and providing parents with anticipatory guidance.
