Mental Health Planning and Evaluation Template (MHPET)
The National Assembly on School-Based Health Care (NASBHC) has a webinar and a web-based tool for quality assessment and improvement (QAI) in school mental health programs. The MHPET (Mental Health Planning and Evaluation Template) is an online assessment tool that can be used in evaluating activities and services across the field of school-based mental health. This tool can be used for new or established school mental health programs. This tool is available to everyone, however you will have to register with NASBHC and obtain an ID before you begin. UCLA School Mental Health Project, Center for Mental Health in Schools
This UCLA website is user-friendly and has a "quick find" directory to help you navigate the site. Aside from the current hot topics and many useful links, the site offers a multitude of practitioner toolkits and resources, along with networks for connecting with like-minded providers. Some of the training and presentation resources are designed for providing brief staff development. Each aid has brief background materials, tools, model programs, and a sample of overheads. Topics include: suicide prevention; violence prevention; burnout; re-engaging students in learning; attention problems; case management; and many more. The website also offers continuing education modules, fact and information resources, as well as presentation handouts/slides.
Behavioral Health Adolescent Provider Toolkit
After three years of development, the Adolescent Health Working Group has unveiled its Behavioral Health Adolescent Provider Toolkit. Developed by and for health care providers, this toolkit takes a closer look at common adolescent mental health and substance use issues.

JAMA Offers School-Based Intervention for Stress Disorders
A school-based intervention for reducing children's symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and depression resulting from exposure to violence is posted free on the August 6, 2003 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
NASP Toolkit : School-Based Mental Health
The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) has added a toolkit that pulls together all related resources into one CD. Mental health underlies all aspects of children's learning and development. This toolkit will provide school-based mental health professionals with over 130 resources to help students needs. “Out-of-School Suspension and Expulsion” Policy Statement
The American Academy of Pediatrics has recommendations for pediatricians and schools on how suspension and expulsion punishments should be administered, and the role of pediatric providers in providing social, emotional, and mental health support. The policy statement also highlights aspects of expulsion and suspension that may jeopardize children's health and safety, such as academic deterioration, student alienation, delinquency, crime, and substance abuse problems.
