The Center's website offers a comprehensive listing and links to dozens of organizations working in the field, including model programs in Child Overweight Programs: Model Programs & Projects. In addition, the Center's website provides scientific data, reports, program materials, and a guide to funding resources. Their toolkit, Children and Weight: What Communities Can Do, is targeted to bringing people together and mobilizing local resources.

The Finance Project created and published, Financing Childhood Obesity Prevention Programs: Federal Funding Sources and Other Strategies. This 65-page guide provides a description of relevant federal funding sources as well as frameworks of financing strategies and childhood obesity prevention strategies. It also illustrates the potential of these funding sources and strategies for childhood obesity prevention with examples of creative initiatives in states and communities. While federal funding is not the only source of revenue for supporting obesity prevention strategies, these funds may help to launch, expand, or sustain promising approaches. |

California Obesity Prevention Initiative – Funding Resources |

The California Obesity Prevention Initiative (COPI) works with the State Planning Group consisting of the Department of Health Services' nutrition and physical activity programs with an interest in obesity prevention. COPI and its partners work to create environments and policies that support physical activity and healthy eating for all Californians. Some of their objectives include coordinating and implementing a statewide strategic plan, piloting a school-based intervention, and providing training and technical assistance. Funding sources for obesity prevention programs are listed on their website. |
