OUSD Youth Wellness

The Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) Youth Leadership Wellness Champions began as the Bechtel Foundation-funded Oakland Wellness Initiative for healthier school environments at five Oakland schools. Currently, groups of young people from Oakland, Oakland Technical, Bunche, and Fremont high schools, as well as Madison Park and Montera middle schools coordinate wellness campaigns for their campuses.

In the past, Youth Leadership Wellness Champions worked on a range of projects from clean water access to health education for elementary school students. See what they have helped change policies around school meals and find out more about what’s happening in OUSD by exploring the OUSD Wellness website or by reading the OUSD Wellness Policy.
