Give California Kids Access to Health Care

Join us to give kids access to health care in CaliforniaThank you for being part of our network that is helping kids in California get access to health care so they can succeed in school. Your partnership has helped us make a big impact in California. Together we have made great strides for children’s health, including:

  • Assisting schools to bring new or expanded mental health care to more than 49,000 students in California.
  • Providing school-based health care advocates a voice in Sacramento, and helping to pass AB 1130 that expands school-based health center hours.
  • Raising nearly $900,000 to support new programs in school-based health centers (SBHCs).Thirty-four school-based health centers and partners received grants to strengthen their work on asthma, trauma, tobacco prevention, obesity prevention, and youth engagement.

We could not have done any of this without your participation in our network and I want to thank you for your commitment to improving the health and well-being of California’s kids.

I want us to reach even more kids in 2016, but I need your help. Can you make a gift of any amount by December 31 to help us meet our year-end goal of $2,500?

Your donation helps us bring high-quality health care to more kids at school.

Kids like Aida, who struggled to breathe when she was chasing her friends on the blacktop during recess. The highways and industrial activity near her school have contributed to many cases of childhood asthma, which cause kids like Aida to miss many days of class and fall behind.

Aida was able to get help for her asthma at her school-based health center. The highly trained staff connected Aida to medication, brought her parents in for education, and worked with her to teach her simple ways she can stave off a major asthma attack before and during play. Her school also participates in our asthma focus group that gives school-based health centers resources and space to share knowledge and expertise so they can improve the health of kids with asthma.

Your contribution goes toward strengthening this work and allows us to share expertise with more school-based health centers in 2016.

Thank you again and happy holidays!
