HBO will air “The Weight of the Nation,” four hour-long documentaries on the health consequences of obesity, on May 14, 15 and 16th. The documentaries feature in-depth coverage of the causes of childhood obesity, the decline of physical education classes, and the marketing of junk food to children. Each of the four films features case studies and interviews with experts, individuals, and families struggling with obesity. The series is sponsored by: The Institute of Medicine and HBO Documentary Films, along with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health, Kaiser Permanente, and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation.
