Student Health Index Digital Toolkit

The California School-Based Health Alliance’s (CSHA) Student Health Index is the first comprehensive study to help communities, school leaders, and student advocates identify where new school-based health centers (SBHCs) are most needed to improve student health and education—even more important as students return to classrooms and recover from the emotional and physical challenges of COVID.

As the statewide organization leading the movement to put health care in schools through SBHCs, we invested in research to develop this Index to help realize CSHA’s audacious goal to double the number of SBHCs in California by 2030. With 500 SBHCs providing integrated health services, thousands more students and families will have access to the high-quality health services they need in trusted and accessible settings. With the findings from the Index and your support, we have a roadmap for how to strategically reach our goal of 500 with an equity lens.
