California lawmakers and the Governor agreed to expand Medi-Cal to all eligible low-income children in our state, regardless of immigration status.
In an agreement reached June 16, the budget starting July 1 will include $40 million to expand Medi-Cal coverage to an estimated 170,000 children starting May 1, 2016.
The California School-Based Health Alliance lauds this historic change that will ensure all Californian children receive the health care they need. School-based health centers will better be able to serve these children because of this much-needed change.
We thank and applaud the leadership of the Legislature and the advocacy of our partner organizations in pursuing this important change.
